The Federated Women’s Institutes of Canada in partnership with the International Peace Garden invites applications for the FWIC Peace Garden Scholarship Program. This exciting initiative will provide a leadership opportunity for a young woman from each province across Canada to participate in a one-week educational program at the International Peace Garden (www.peacegarden.com). The Peace Garden is located on the Manitoba and North Dakota border. All expenses, such as travel, accommodation, and meals will be covered.
ELIGIBILITY – Young women between 17-20 years of age as of January 1st of the application year. Women interested in leadership, marketing, social media, horticulture, public relations, arts, inspiring others, and positive social change. Community and volunteer experience are assets.
HOW TO APPLY – Submit a type-written essay (minimum of 500 words, maximum of 1000) describing your interest in the areas listed and why this experience would be beneficial to you. Submit a current resume. Submit one letter of reference.
The candidate selection will be by paper application only. Applications must be submitted to your Provincial Women’s Institute Office. Please contact the WI Office in your province for their submission deadline date and the address where your Peace Garden Scholarship application should be forwarded. A list of the offices is under the “Provincial WI’s” button on FWIC’s website (www.fwic.ca).
RESPONSIBILITY – Prepare and submit a report of your experiences during your week at the International Peace Garden to your provincial Women’s Institute Office. Make at least one presentation to a Women’s Institute group or conference. Represent the Federated Women’s Institutes of Canada and your provincial WI counterpart while at the Peace Garden in Manitoba.
